1. FriendFeed vs Facebook

So, since 140 chars doesnt cut it, I thought I’d post here and link up!

Let me begin by saying I’ve gone through a few different services and had my ups and downs with all of them. At its most basic I used to be hooked on IRC channels then forums and msn etc, but thats not the type of service I’m on about.

I never did myspace, I just disliked it from the start for some reason. I did join facebook, and loved it but I prefer flickr etc for photos and dislike the integration possibilities. Then of course there’s twitter, which I still use, its great to see links flying past and I have my second account which has helped me keep track of my food and loose weight. After that, there was pownce, which I loved untill it shut down, even tho it seemed innevitable as messages slowed.

I used strands for a while when Drew O was championing their cause - but as the focus of the site changed it didnt suit what I was after (my focus may have changed now, but thats for another blog). I also joined FriendFeed - which I’m still on and finally i’m getting to the point of this post….

I must admit, i’m slightly worried over any merger / takeover / selling of Friendfeed, its not a problem with Facebook. I personally feel, friendfeed has grown greatly, improved loads and has a good feature set - but I was excited to see where they would head with the service and what unique offerings they could bring to the table!

My worry is that the merger will end up with Facebook eating up Friendfeed, some features going into Facebook, some being left and that Friendfeed will either chug along for a long time or eventually disolve.

But, on the flipside I’m also eager to hear / read / watch all the interviews and news bits over this next week to see what others have to say and see if i’ve miss-judged the situation completely
