1. number crunchin

The past few weeks i’ve been watching @stephenfry’s follower number increase, then after his appearance on @wossy’s program on bbc1 (UK) I noticed the numbers shoot up. More interestingly I’ve noticed it compared to other top people on twitter see here. and I have to wonder where most of Stephen Fry’s followers come from. On the top list, if we ignore Obama(@BarackObama) and CNN(@cnnbrk) the only real competitor is @kevinrose. I can guess straight away the bulk of Kevin’s followers come from digg users and diggnation watchers, and maybe some people who know him more from his previous life on The Screen Savers (a show in the states). Stephen Fry however, to me as a British geek, is more of a comedian and knowledgeable bloke and I wonder if the bulk of his followers are also new-to-twitter users? If so, I think its brilliant, I had thought about creating a quick app which could spider the list and check follower post counts or similar and do some checks but straight away remembered the api limits and his current number of followers could mean it running for a month (when using max 100 requests per hour).

Anyway this post is a bit of a mish mash has no big point, just thought some things were worth noting.
